Broadcast Wireless from a Network Point Q

Is it possible to broadcast a wireless signal via a Cat5 network point? What I wish to do is have a 'local' wireless area, say 20-30 metres and disconnect when not needed etc. I don't want to turn the broadband router wireless.

If its possible, any suggestion on a device to do this?

It seems to to me that what you want is a wireless access point. You could then unplug that when you didnt need the wireless signal.

If you happen to have a spare wireless router you could also turn off the routing function and use that instead.

Yes, sounds like what I require, so I plug this NAP in to a network point and the Laptops/PC's etc that require wireless communications 'feed' off this Netgear device?
