Premier League All-Star XI

On Twitter, we may be used to Rio Ferdinand not having the best quality of English, but he has had a bunch of us thinking today - suggesting that Man Utd should play a game versus an all star XI of the rest of the teams. Who would all of you guys play in this hypothetical situation?

Also, a couple of variants have sprung up, XI's with Man U in them, XI's from the whole of the Prem '92 onwards, and XI's with only one player from each team in them.

Who would you guys pick for these teams?

Just to kick it off, here was a sky sports pundit's team:

Hart, Sagna, Luiz, Kompany, Cole, Nasri, Wilshere, Adam, Bale, Tevez, Carroll

It would be a pretty crap All Star XI if you couldn't pick any United players for it tbh.;)

Personally I think it's an excellent idea.

It works well in sports such as NBA where they have a weekend with lots of events taking place and the all-start game being the main one. You could have a performer on at half-time etc. I'd like to see it limited to one or two players from each club for the all-star side and fans could also vote for the selection of players so it would give them some more involvement.

That said, I can't see many clubs agreeing to it when the schedule is clogged up enough as it is but I love to see this idea replace a weekend of international friendlies at least.

As for the teams (bare in mind I don't support Manchester United so a lot of people might not agree):

    Current Manchester United XI:
    De Gea

    Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra

    Carrick

    Valencia
    Nani

    Young

    Rooney Hernandez

    All Time Premier League:
    Schmeichel

    Neville Campbell Ferdinand Cole

    Ronaldo Keane Scholes Giggs

    Henry Shearer

    One Player From Each Club:
    Robinson

    Ivanovic Huth Ferdinand Baines

    Tiote

    N'Zogbia
    Modric
    Downing

    Van Persie Tevez

    No Restrictions:
    Robinson

    Ivanovic Kompany Ferdinand Cole

    Barton Modric Fabregas Downing

    Van Persie Tevez

Heh, touché. Was only a joke.

In all seriousness, I think this would be a decent idea to replace the Community Shield. PL Champions vs Best of the Rest. Move it to the end of the season maybe.

    Had to be done :pac:

Its an interesting idea, but I cant see it getting much support unless its an off season match for charity or something along those lines.

    Drogba

    One Player From Each Club:

    Hart

    Sagna Vidic Cahill Salcido

    Arteta Tiote Modric

    Gyan Drogba Suarez

    No Restrictions:

    Reina

    Sagna Kompany Vidic Cole

    Fabregas De Jong

    Kuyt Rooney Suarez

And Paully D gets the 'Braap Braap Award' for somehow managing to fit Rio Ferdinand into all of his teams. :P

I think any of the top 6 teams probably have the edge against a team of players who've not played together before...
