    Hey all,

    Looking at getting insurance (23 year old, first insurance, no driving history). Pretty much every quote I've gotten so far has been over €2,000.

    However, Lloyds, via the Chill.ie website, have given me a quote of €1,312, that I can 'Buy it now' online. Thing is, I'm not sure if I'm missing something here at all. Although the price seems reasonable to me, personally, when compared with the other quotes I've been given all day, it seems cheap. Almost a little too cheap.

    Here's a screen print;

    As I'm new to all this lark, I was just wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge of these guys or dealings with them in general, or is there something obviously that I'm just foolishly overlooking at the moment? :confused:

    Or are Lloyds just great?

    Lloyds are a major UK player. They are a Syndicate somewhat and deal with the likes of RTA Insurance up to the big stuff like Aviation, Marine and then onto the Insurance of Insurance Companies.

    They would never take me on. :(

    I am surprised to see them operating in Ireland however....

    Look at the policy OP. Actually look at whats being offered by contacting Chill and requesting the if's and but's.

    From a quick look at what you've posted, It's a stripped down policy with no bells and one or two obligatory whistles.

    If you're insuring a car you don't really care for and not too concerned about Break Down Assistance or Windscreen cover then go for it :)

    I'm not sure of your portfolio therefore cant comment too much.

    Yeah, when I go to read the Policy Details that I can click on, it says;

    Lloyds
    Policy Details

    Driving Other Cars Is EXCLUDED, No Windscreen Cover Available, Stereo value limited to manufacturers standard specification otherwise limit of 444EUROS applies., Refer to Company any vehicle where the seating capacity exceeds 8, Refer to Company for any driver who has a criminal record, Premium includes automatic no claims discount step-back protection,

    So whilst it seems the bare bones, I'm sure it'd be okay? I plan on buying a relatively old car (1998, 1999), and I expect it to take a few bumps and bruises though nothing that'd be worth claiming over. It'd be a car for the sake of having a car, I'd say.

    Not sure what you mean by my portfolio, though. :confused:

    Age, Driving experience, car type, value, NCB experience etc etc....

    So it's very much a "legal" policy.

    If that floats your boat then go for it. Also check out the excess.... Could be cranked up pretty high for Fire and Theft to reduce the premium but if you don't care for the vehicle then this isn't an issue anyway.

    I think Chill ask you to fill in a voluntary excess, which confused me at first (to clarify, that's if i want to claim, the excess is what I must pay first, before the insurance will come in?). Anyway, I just left it at 0 and continued on my merry way.

    Correct. The amount you pay first before your claim is paid and I'll bet my house on there being a high excess on that policy.

    I'm with Lloyds via insure.ie for the last 3 years and haven't had any issues really. Haven't had to claim though so can't offer much more advise.
