    Hi

I'm new on this. I was told by a friend its a great place to find out things. Hopefully ye guys can help.

Basically I'm looking to book a holiday with my gf for sept and travelrepublic.ie is ridiculously cheap compared to other sources.

My question - Is it a legit site?

    Thanks!

Yhea travel republic are legit and usually work out much cheaper. They are not however a problem free booking site. I have read many reviews on them both good and bad. My main bit of advice to you would be to ring the hotel you have booked a few days before you are due to arrive and make sure they have details of your booking.

Swear by them personally and have never had any issues with their service.

We were booking for a hotel for family, due to a funeral. The Travel Republic site took the money and the next day sent an email to say "your requested room is not available".
The final screen on booking confirmed the dates and payment, and gave a reference number.
    Pretty Shoddy service, imo.
We used Roomex instead, and found it to be a better service anyway.

Booked with them once, never again!! One day before we left for spain they called to tell us that the hotel we reserved was overbooked, even thought we had paid and reserved it.... they then wanted to put us in an awful hotel... after reasoning with them for a few hours they booked us into a decent place... Our holiday was nearly ruined... so I would advise that you contact the hotel to ensure that your room is booked.

Used travelrepublic several times without any problems and I also usually do check with the hotel about 3days in advance to make the sure booking is there.

Never used this site before. Found one or two hotels I like on it and quite reasonable.

I know some people swear by them, which is obviously great.

Just one question, there's an option at the bottom for transfers to and from airport via coach/bus. Has anyone ever had any issues with this upon arrival?

    Tia.

WARNING NEVER BOOK WITH TRAVEL REPUBLIC, i booked flights with them after reading all the comments where people said they had no trouble with the ignoring the ones that said they did, and i booked a 15 kg suitcase on with them. when checking in online with ryanair i rang travel republic to make sure i had a suitcase booked on and they reassured me that there was a 15kg suitcase booked on and not to be worrying. when i arrived to the airport to check in my bag they told me there was no bag checked in on the flight so i contacted travel republic and they said sorry nothing we can do you will just have to pay the 260 euro (out of my spending money) to bring your suitcase with you and we will refund you when u are back!!! that was the 9th of july 2013 and it is now the 24th of September and i still have not been refunded i keep on ringing but they say its being processed. SO I WOULD ADVISE EVRYONE NEVER TO BOOK WITH TRAVEL REPUBLIC BECAUSE IF YOU COME INTO TROUBLE THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU .

Have used travel republic for the past 5 years or so for accomodation (booked flights with ryan air separately) and had no problems. Found their search option quite good as you could look for a 2 bed self catering apartment which was not available on other accomodation sites.

On a slightly different topic, I was on the Ryan Air website yesterday looking to see if flights to Spain are up yet for next year and they were (although more expensive than they were this year). When I looked today there were none there for Ibiza, Majorca, Reus etc. Anyone know anything about this?

Yeah my recommendation was based on using them to book accomodation only. Book your flights directly through the airline always.

Another caveat, read the t's & c's closely. I booked a room recently as pay on arrival, then got a call from them seeking payment 3 weeks prior to the trip. It was between paydays for me so I unfortunately had to cancel the booking. I was annoyed that it wasn't made clear payment would be required prior to arrival when I made the booking, so I reared up on them and they waived their cancellation fee (20%).

This was 2 days in a basic hotel in Leeds so that fee would have been about £15, but if it was a higher cost booking I doubt they would have waived it, I'd say they make a fair bit of money that way. Bit Ryanair-ish.

Luckily the hotel was still available so I got it at the same price through another booking agent on payday, but it would have stung if the price had shot up as can happen.

For the Balearics I'd say it's because they run on a May-September calendar so this year's one is still in use, the new one will come out in closed season. For Reus I would have thought they fly there year round as it's their main Barca connector so not sure.

Any recent reviews of this site? I'm thinking about using this site to book hotel in salou. It says I can put down a deposit now and pay the rest 2 weeks before we travel. My question however is can I chip away at the balance week by week or does it have to be paid in one big lump sum

Avoid them, a cousin of mine used them to book a hotel one time in the middle-east, arrived at the hotel and no record of the booking, had to go to another lower quality budget hotel instead. Try booking.com or someone else but not TravelRepublic.

Iv never had problem with them.used them a few times and booked Tenerife with them for may.always cheapest
2 years ago we went on an all inclusive to Portugal and food was really bad and we aren't fussy
Rang travel republic asked could we just go back to self catering.was no prob got refunded for the all inclusive part

I’ve use them a few times and absolutely no problems.
The price I got with them for the hotel in each case was an absolute bargain compared to other websites and the hotel itself.

I always check booking.com first, once i find a selection of good hotels, I check them on trivago. Sometimes you can get them at half price compared to booking.com
Travel republic usually comes up one of the cheapest on trivago
