IP webcams for home mointoring

Not sure if I have the right forum but here goes:

I want to set up 1 or more IP webcams in my home and have them record video\pics when movement is sensed. It should then email me with an alert.

I have a standard home broadband connection with a wireless router.

So, I reckon I can buy a few IP webcams easily enough. Some questions:

    - Do I need anything special if I buy an IP camera that is powered by ethernet?
    - Will Win7 recognise multiple webcams? I assume I will need to buy some webcam monitoring software.

    Anyone got any pointers?

    Thanks
