Seen these used a while back in South Africa by on of the Guides/PH I was with. Seen them used in both 30-06 and 300 Win Mag, one shot each time on large size game,. Seen the one shot with the 300 Win being skinned out, no excessive meat damage.
He claimed the were great and used them whenever he could get them.

The sst's in both .243 and .308 were great for me so I'd say it should be the same story in the -06.They are both an accurate and a really well designed bullet for hunting.

It's the same as using 150gr sst superformance in .308. And they are mighty good. I was using 150gr sst before the other stuff came out and that was just as good.

I have shot fallow sika and red withe them to great effect the meet damage is no worse than any soft point but it does tremendous internal damage usually dropping an animal on the spot even with the traditional hart lung shot.

would not use anything else in 308 or my 243, deer will not go anywhere after them, and as for meat damage very little if heart and lung shot. as for most if you hit bone will have a bit of damage but very little. my shooting buddy will use nothing else in his 25.06 117gr sst's.

SST's drop deer, no doubts about that.
last deer i shot it blew some of the lung out through the exit wound.

A .30-06 will drop any irish game if pointed in the propper direction ;)

I have a 700 in 30-06 that I use for hunting and general merriment in Ireland. When I am on target, there has never been a runner.

The SST's are devastating and accurate. But do you need them? Are you shooting out past 300yards?

What rifle have you? My 700 loves to eat the more massive rounds like the 180gr.

+1 and it is nice to know that you could take the 30-06 to the continent for bigger game if the opportunity arises.
