Protecting pipe during frost

Hi All, Looking for some advice to prevent freezing next winter. My mains water is coming in via heavy duty 3/4 inch thick black pipe. Its tapped off to two differnet locations; 1 around the back of the house to the cold tank, this part of the pipe should be easy to bury, and 2 to a tap on an outside wall. I'm worried if the exposed part of the tap freezes and the freeze makes it to the joint which is only about 3 metres it'll cut off my full supply?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Anyone know if there is a frost "switch" that can turn on a light in a pumphouse for example, when temperatures fall to a pre set level?

Isnt a trace cable more for insulting pipes?
Is there a sensor that can be set to detect a low temperature, and then switch on a light?
