    HI,

Driving home last night in 5th gear, I was coming on to dual carriage way and a slight uphill trek..The revs in my car went way up and the car didnt seem to move with it..Having googled it it looks like it may be the clutch slipping?
I drove this moring and no issues moving through the gears or this happening?
    I have a 2005 Nissan Almera Petrol 90K miles?

Basically am I in trouble and should I go to mechanic straight away?
How much is this likely to cost?
Or Can I drive away until this problem worsens ?

    Thanks
    F

Clutch is slipping, depending on the load out on it it mightn't last much longer.

Sorry, What do you mean load out on it?

Any ideas on a price for replacing it?
Would most mechanics do it or will I have to take it to Nissan Garage?

Any mechanic should be able to do a clutch no bother on an Almera, I say should as some mechanics are so woeful you'd wonder how they get by as mechanics. By load, I mean how you drive it, no hills and no hard acceleration and it will last a lot longer than if you are doing hill starts and hard acceleration a lot.

    ok thanks,

And what would be a reasonable price range to get it replaced?
So you advise getting this done as soon as possible?

    Thanks,

    F

Is it a long job will it be done in a day?
I got a quote of 300 there from a local garage, based in Southwest

It's a few hours at most, hence the low price :)

    Not Your Ornery Onager

You could just have been in too high a gear for that uphill section....

He was in 5th, if the clutch is slipping in 5th there is a problem with the clutch, not with being in a high gear :)
