Anyone shed some light on decent dive spots in Marbella/Costa Del Sol ? Can anyone recommend a dive operator ?

have had a search through boards and could only find a small number of threads saying not a whole lot to see and the place is over-run by cowboys....also the only decent dives are Gibraltar and even at that its wreck diving.

I'm fairly new to diving - less than 15dives in approx 15months (still very much getting started)...anyway ... planning on 2 weeks in Marbella towards the end of August and might try get a dive or two over there while there.

When I head somewhere new, I tend to work backwards. Firstly I use the PADI website to find the dive centers with decent ratings near where I'll be (5*, IDC etc), my experience is that this stands fairly true for the quality of a dive center. Then I'll work my through the website for the shortlist of dive centers to see what sort of diving they've got on offer. Finally I drop one or two a line to check if that country has any particular regulation for diving such as medical certs etc, what sort of prices they charge and if I'm taking my own gear if they offer any discount for this. You also get a bit more of a personal vibe of the dive center.

I hope that offers a bit of help, have a good time and enjoy.

I recently dove with http://www.one2onediving.com/ they were great crowd of people. Very accommodating, we had our 6mt old son in the dive shop while we done our scuba reviews.. Some very experienced staff.

Gibralter was OK, a slight surge the day I went. As for the wrecks, I've seen better but aI've been spoilt.
The Mrs dove at some national park and loved it.

    Hope this helps a bit.

thanks for the recommendation and advice - will probably end out popping into a dive centre for a chat and see if I like them.
