Following a recent controls and boiler upgrade to my parents home heating system, one of the mech valves becomes extremely hot when open. Electrician claims that this is normal but the heat is excessive and only occurs at one valve.

    any thoughts.

It's possible the motor in the actuator is over heating or is closer to a heat source than the others.

Without knowing a whole lot about it, the valve is hot when there is no heat supplied so i would imagine that you might be right about the motor overheating. Time to get the boys back by the looks of it, they are spinning yarns about it being normal etc but i'm not convinced. Thanks.
