When your customer pays you, the funds will be in your paypal account. you then transfer it to your current account or card. Usually takes a couple of working days for funds to transfer from your paypal account to your card or current account.

so the funds aren't actually put on my o2 card then?I have to transfer them over myself?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,082 ✭✭✭BadGirl

Nope, you'll have to manually transfer them yourself...

In the My Account screen, there is an option to Withdraw funds and it will send to your nominated account then.

You can't transfer money from Paypal to a credit card. You can only withdraw to a bank account.

How long does it normally take to transfer funds?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,713 ✭✭✭✭jor el

Don't know, but a couple of days at least. Probably 2-3 working days.

    Hi back again

So I shipped my item, item was recived this morning,I got an email on friday from pay pal saying the following

"You received a payment. However, we're temporarily holding the payment to make sure that the transaction is completed smoothly.

The payment may be held up to 21 days. Please ship the item right away. Once you do, we may release the funds sooner.

We'll email you when the payment is released. You can always monitor the status of this payment on the History page of your account."

When will they release it?I really need the cash

Sephiroth_dude, that's the 2nd needless and pointless bump post I've removed from this thread. Stop doing that. If no one answers, then no one knows the answer. A thread that is 4 posts from the top of the page does not need a bump.

Paypal have told you that it will take up to 21 days to release the funds, so there's your answer right there.

Does Paypal charge a fee for withdrawals?

It is free to withdraw money from your Paypal funds to a bank account , - however if you enter wrong details , and the money is returned to Paypal , you will incur a €3 charge .

Sephiroth_dude , - your money is going to be held until Paypal are secure in the knowledge that the item you sold has been successfully delivered .

This is common procedure when you open a new Paypal a/c and sell first item on eBay .

Funds have been released at last, now I have a new query which I hope you can help with,I got an email from ebay saying I owe them 22.63,I knew they charged you for using the service but this seems a bit much.

eBay's fees can be a bit of a maze. Generally though, there's a listing fee (which varies depending on whether it's buy it now or auction, if you set a low or high start bid, and if there's a reserve), and a final valuation fee (percentage of the final sale amount).

The fees are quite high though, so I wouldn't be at all surprised by your surprise!

    Back again

So I tranferred the funds from my paypal to my aib account on tuesday,I got an email from paypal saying the funds should be in my bank account by friday,In paypal "in the recent activity" bar its says payment complete but theres no funds in my bank account if you know what I mean?

I transferred money during business hours Wednesday 20th July to Bank Of Ireland and the money is in my Bank a/c today .

I transferred money on Friday 15th July and it hit the bank a/c on Tuesday 19th July .

It normally takes 2-3 business days .

It is normal for Paypal to say ' payment complete ' before the money is actually in your bank account .

Well thats good to know then,I thought it might have gone to the wrong account or something.

Payment complete will just mean the money has left Paypal's account. It's in the hands of the bank at that stage. I'd not get too worried until Monday, or check after midnight tonight, as I notice sometimes that automatic banking stuff happens at midnight.

If nothing shows by Tuesday, start querying it.

There is not much you can do if the lodgement is not in you bank account on tuesday .

    It works like this , - :
    1. If bank details are correct it will process correctly
    2. If bank details are incorrect , it will revert to your Paypal account .

Did it go through OP? If not, then contact your bank.

I transferred money from my PayPal around 12am on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and the money went into my bank account on Friday. That with Ulster Bank.
