    Hi all,

I'm travelling with my wife & another couple to Waterford in a few week, so looking at planning 1 or 2 golf rounds whilst there.

I'm staying at Faithlegg one day so may play a round there - can anyone advise if Faithlegg Course is any good or is there better close by?

I'll also be down in Dungarvan also. Can someone point me towards a good course down there.

    Thanks

Faithlegg is a fine course, you'll enjoy it. Waterford Castle up the road is better imo, more enjoyable. Tramore is another course worth playing if time permits. You can also get a ferry across the Suir estuary to Co. Wexford, New Ross, Rosslare, Wexford golf clubs each worth a visit..

    Enjoy trip

3 x 18 hole courses in Dungarvan - often advertised as the golf triangle. http://www.golftriangle.com/

Dungarvan Golf Club - just off the Waterford Rd, 2 miles before Dungarvan town http://www.dungarvangolfclub.com/
Gold Coast golf Club - on the water in Ballinacourty area http://www.goldcoastgolfclub.com/
West Waterford Golf club - on road to Aglish I think http://westwaterfordgolf.com/cms/

Faithlegg is top class, held the Irish Women's open one year as well. Well worth a game. Dungarvan would be my fav of the 3 out that direction (probably because it's least difficult ;)).

Faithlegg is a lovely course. Have only played there once, and was very hung over at the time, but really enjoyed it.

I was a member at Dungarvan Golf Club for a short while and it's a decent course.
I haven't played it, but I hear the Gold Coast one is very nice. Probably a good bit tougher too though.

I have to disagree here I'm afraid. Wexford is the least impressive course in region imo. Changes have detracted from course rather than adding to it.

Faithlegg is good, as is Waterford Castle (not too long). Any of the courses in Dungarvan are worth a look. Aesthetically Gold Coast is best.

    Just my opinion of course.

Tramore is in great condition at the moment, recently held the Irish Youths championship. It's about 20/25 minutes drive from Faithlegg.

Open singles every Friday is €25 including a grill.
Green Fees €35 midweek, €40 at the weekend.

For me faithlegg is top quality and would really recommend playing at waterford castle isnt a bad run around but doesnt compare to faithlegg what so ever . In my opinion is an average course! If you could make it as far as mount juliet in killkenny it would be worth ur while its an amazing course!

thanks everyone for all the info.

    Fiathlegg is a definite.

Still open to be persuaded on the Dungarvan course. Staying in Tannery in Dungarvan, so one of the three local course is best, so don't fancy travelling.

I've played on the Gold Coast and seen Dungarvan Course.
Gold Coast looks like the best course for a visitor. Lovely sea views.
Dungarvan seems like a great club to be a member of: Pro shop, practice area, lively bar. The Gold Coast seems more set up for the tourist.

Dungarvan Golf Club is the best of the courses in Dungarvan area. Gold Coast is pretty but not in great condition and West Waterford is to tight.

Open at Dungarvan every thursday....25 quid including a bite to eat.

I Have played all 3 courses in Dungarvan and imo West Waterford is by far the best followed by Dungarvan and then the Gold Coast. the Gold Coast has some nice views and the old 9 holes are good but the new 9 are average at best. West Waterford is by far the best test of the 3 courses. To be fair all 3 courses are usually in superb condition and very enjoyable.

Don't think you will go wrong with any of the courses in Dungarvan,Gold Coast probably slightly more scenic being on the coast some great finishing holes,Dungarvan is probably my own personal favourite but i think West Waterford is the best test of golf,as for the city Faithlegg and Waterford Castle are two good courses so is Waterford but personally not a big fan,Tramore is the best course in Waterford and if your not fussy Williamstown which is the municipal doesn't have a clubhouse but a good test of golf for €15 midweek and Sunday afternoons.
