Would it be safe to say that after doing an interview, and the ad for the job has been removed, that I didn't get the job???

Depends how long ago you did the interview I guess.

You have waited one full working day and you think that is long enough! Ring after 2 weeks if you have heard nothing... People wait up to 5 weeks for a response and it can be a positive one :)

    Best of luck!

    Hi all,
Didnt think post warrented a new thread but I had a interview last week and it seemed to go well.Got a call back a few days saying I did a good interview but that the job has been put on hold and they dunno when or whether it will come up again.Iam really interested in the job and would be willing to wait for a while.
Just wondering has anyone been in this position? Is this a polite brush off or is there a possibilty of the job being put out there?
    Cheers

All I would say is don't stop applying for other jobs in the hope that this job will come again in a couple of weeks. It may never happen and you have no idea that you will get the job even if it does, they could decide they need something completely different between then and now. You don't have any job till you start your first day

It's not that long ago since you did the interview. Usually it take a few days to a week at least before you get a response. Often takes two weeks or more to a month even before you hear back. You can always ask for feedback at a later date if you haven't heard from them in a good while.

It could be the case but not always, it could be just that there was a deadline for the job application for the job in question that they aren't taking any more applicants, for that reason the job ad be removed if they have had enough candidates apply for the job.

All depends how many they interview. Not always the case if they have given the job to someone else you might think that but you won't know that until you get a response from them. If they haven't found someone to fill the job they will re-advertise it again.

This happened to me before. Took it as face value and then when I was on the market again looking, I contacted them & got a different position. If they emailed you, I would advise a polite reply saying thanks for the opportunity & if another position was to become available that you would be interested in them informing you and maybe attending an interview.

Well the good news theyve got back to me and offered me the job! Asked for a small time to think about but gonna take it.Just wondering what is the process when I accept. Is everything posted out after that etc?
This is my first "proper" job since graduating so not really sure of the process.
    Thanks

Congrats! Next step would generally be an offer letter and possibly a contract, pending the reference checks.
