The bill would allow anyone who called for an academic, consumer or cultural boycott to be sued for compensation.
I would love to see them try to enforce it over here.
    ......

Why would they do that when its aimed at Israeli citizens, as per your own thread title?

I'd love to see what would happen if a journo asked Obama his opinion on this! llololol

    Seems kind of extreme.

    Probably won't pass.

Wouldn't Israelis calling for a boycott of Israeli goods defeat their own interests?

Many Israelis oppose the illegal settlements in the westbank and boycott goods made there for that reason.

Thats what I thought meself. However........

"The Israeli parliament has passed a controversial law that will punish any Israeli individual or organisation boycotting West Bank settlements."

Genuinely suprised at that, as sense normally jumps in at some stage before these things get passed.

So they've made it illegal to boycott illegal colonies.

    Go Israel.

I thought it was Geoffrey be Boullion. He certainly had it in for those Muslim boys :D. Maybe took boycotting a little bit on the far side.

Why do you say that ?

I think this is what most people have come to expect from the 'only democracy in the middle east'.

As the Israeli PM recently said - "Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East".

    LOL

What's happening is the decent Israelis are getting so pissed off with the colonisation of the West Bank they are threatening to boycott settlers interests.

Proabably getting accused of being self-loathing Jews and the like. I for one think its a very decent thing to do, will do more for Palestinians than a million flotillas, and thats not a slur on the flotillas.

You have to wonder about the merits of a 'democracy' where peaceful civil protest is effectively criminalised.
