hey ive a 5 acre field that has a big slope, id say 15m fall over 150metre distance, running down into a river. there is a main road at the top of the field and houses on the other side. there are pipes under the road for rainwater but it looks like a few of the houses are leaving off washing machine waste or sewage or something down thru the pipes and tis ruining the field and theres an awful smell around the outlets. would this be a matter for the county council in regard to polluting the river
or would ye just say it to the 2 or 3 households

also the field was reseeded last year but got little fertillizer what would be the best all round fertilliser for it (not doing soil test cos wanna do it tomoro) and also can you put granular lime out the same time as fertilliser.

Sounds like its getting well fertilized as it is:confused:

PS: Best to do a soil test in this situation as it might not need any fertilizer at all

The local Fisheries Board (Now IFI, Inland Fisheries Ireland) would be interested to hear about this.

In relation to the fert, a soil test pre application would be your best bet.
1 1/2 bags of 18-6-12 and acre would likely kick off a bit of grass.

I believe fert and gran lime shouldn't be spread together. Again why not soil test and then you'll know the inputs. Now, pre application is the time to test.

This is why the council (Ex Green Party ) are bringing out the septic tank inspections over the coming years. Newer houses should have the Bio Cycle but i have seen a lot put in and they only work if they are properly maintained and switched on.

If the drains under the road, were to mysteriously get blocked, with say plastic shopping bags, not silage plastic.;)
All that nice chocklatey goo, from the beautiful people in those offending houses, would suddenly pop out on the beautifully manicured lawn, and make a wonderfull organic feed for the prize winning roses, adorning the corner of the drive where the Range Rover is usually parked. Terrible nuisance that.:P
