Warranty on car repair?

I am having a major repair done (gearbox, 1000e+) and I was wonder; is it reasonable to ask the garage for a warranty for that repair. Let's say 3 or even 1 month.
As I see this, I would be happy to pay for the repair being done, but not just for an attempt of repair. Is it common to get warranty for such repair or I am just dreaming here?

If you are paying the garage 1000+ to repair your gearbox then it goes without saying that a reputable garage would stand over their work.

Most will have a set warranty on mechanical repairs.
