Golf GTi with a mind of its own?

Car is an 05 Mk V GTi that I've had about 5 or 6 months. Yesterday morning I came out and found all four windows of my car were rolled down to the exact same point - about 75% of the way down. They were all closed when I locked the car last night. Keys stayed inside and nobody would have had access to them to play a prank on me or anything.

Does anyone have any ideas what the hell could have happened? I have noticed the electrics are a bit screwy - the tire pressure warning light is constantly flashing even though the pressure is fine and sometimes one of the lights stays on even though I have turned off the switch, but I don't see how the windows could have rolled themselves down without the keys being in the ignition...

How could this have happpened, and what should I do?

Not sure if they are on cars from six years ago but on my dads Skoda Superb 09 when you hold down the open door key all the windows go down to about 75%.

Maybe someone pressed it by mistake if you do have this system.

I don't know much about cars, and it's quite possible I did buy a lemon, but it seems logically impossible to me that the windows opened by themselves during the night. Or what am I missing? I don't sleep walk.

Is this some kind of malfunctioning security feature or something?

Yes, I read it, thanks. Just tested it and you're right. That's what it was. So I may have a lemon but at least it isn't an autonomous lemon.

Enjoy the VW golf. VWs are very under appreciated here.Lads love BMW badges;).Small penis syndrome and all that

    Mod Edit - Image removed.

PARKHEAD67, I'm finding it very hard to believe there snt an element of trolling to your posts about all things VAG.

Right, the windows are a feature. Hold the open button down and they will drop. It's possible the button may have gotten pressed somehow.

You may just need to reset the tyre pressure light - press and hold the button for a few seconds. I have had this on 2 cars based on the same platform as your car and it was fine in both.

The one light on is your park light. If you lock the car with the indicator stalk turned for left or right the lights on that side stay on.

Hopefully don't come across as a smart ass here, but the first thing you should do when you pick up a car is read the manual.

I also find its an excellent education on Irish specs - you see that only 30% of the features listed are in your car

Had this happen to me - got back from shops, carrying bags, carrying car keys in my teeth...next time I went out to the car, all windows down...must have depressed the button with my teeth. Was highly confused until I read the manual though.

Been that way for ages on VAG's.

My Octavia would open and close all the Windows if you held the lock closed.
