I'm an American student going to NUI Galway this fall and I was just wondering what the average academic schedule for students were during the week. Like is it common to have classes every day of the week? What time on average were you done with classes each day? I'm just wondering how my weekly schedules will look for this year. Any input would be awesome! Thank you!

all depends on what course and modules you're doing. everyone has different timetables.

    what are you doing?

First off, welcome. You'll have a ball here with your fellow Americans :)

As said, it really depends on what you'll be studying.

A lot of courses have approximately 20 hours a week between lectures, tutorials and possibly labs, Monday-Friday. On occasion, it may just happen that you have just one or no lectures on one day. Of course, some courses require more non-contact hours a week in the form of additional reading and the like.

Expect to be finished by 5 or 6 on a "late" day. If you're taking a course that many part-time students are taking, some classes may well finish later in the evening/night. If you're jinxed like some of us here were, you might have 10:00-19:00 one straight for one day a week for a full year (but not much every other day) but that magical timetabling machine can't please everyone!

You might be able to find the timetable of the semester just gone on your faculty's/school's website.

Thank you everyone! I will be starting as a first year doing Mathematics and Education. Does anyone know any specifics about what kind of a workload I would have each week with that course?
