    Smurf Poo

On a thread a few weeks back there was a mention of Smurf Poo for the use in Knife Sharpening.

    I'm looking to buy some.
I'm not sure how much I need as I have never used it before.
I found a leather belt at home that I plan to use as a Strop, but without the compound I can only get the knife "so" sharp!

(if anyone wants to donate me some, that is fine too)
Is there anywhere in Ireland that you can go in and buy it?
    Thanks for the Help guys!

Tack - have you a link? I cannot find it anywhere.

Is that the real name or what it has been dubbed. I cannot imagine the Smurf people merchandising this!

    Slan

I bought mine with a strop from Longstrider on British Blades.

PM me your address and I'll send you a bit.

Autosol from motor factors works as well, just a bit smelly!

I have Autosol, I'll try that first.

How much did he charge you out of interest for the kit?

It was £15 for the stuff and about £6 for postage, Royal Mail has raised their prices slightly since though.

You could contact Ian (Longstrider) through the link above and ask him what it costs now?

    Longstrider Strops and Starkie Blue

After many requests for the strops I use I have now made a batch-load which I can offer for sale.
The strops are 18" long and 2" wide. Like their maker, they are far from pretty, but they're good at getting an edge polished and truly sharp smile.gif
They are made from the same leather I have been using for years on my own strops ( about 2mm thick, firm leather) glued to 25mm thick MDF for rigidity. No fanciness, just practicality.

Each strop will come with a stick of 'Starkie Blue', the stropping compound I use, and will be sent by 1st Class post.

Careful now, you are about to enter the domain of a group of people who will empty your pockets quicker than any gun dealer :)
It's a great site, full of very helpful people.

BTW, I've been using autosol on a piece of scrap leather for years and it works perfectly.

I'm easy talk to these days.
I'm skint after paying bills so it will have to be chape ;)

I'd love a one of a kind custom blade some day, but yes they are mad money!

Maybe not, some very talented guys on BB and depending what you want you can get some very good deals even on fully custom builds.

I'm waiting on James Woods to start taking commissions again ;)

I always wanted a Bowie knife like Mick Dundee :D
