    Hi all,

I need to get a new laptop for returning to college in sept. The most important thing I need is a low weight and low cost. I know some of the cheapest models will drive me mad with their poor performance so I'd like to avoid that if possible. Willing to spend up to 500 euro at a maximum.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Looks like a Nice decent spec Laptop for the price

Other than that you could go the netbook root for ultra portability and light weight

    Link

has a dual core atom and would be perfect for note taking and internet browsing , battery life on those things are like 6 hours +!

    Thanks for the input.

The course will involve writing a number of papers and I wonder if the screen on the netbook would be too small. I would be quite happy with something with a 13inch screen which weights 2kg or less - similar to the macbook.
