Freeview HD from Cambrett Hill

For some reason the signal strength from this transmitter appears to have increased over the last week or so, now showing around 95-100% on my Philips SD Freeview box (far batter than Divis).

Decided to have a go with my Humax HD box. Low and behold, all 4 Freeview HD channels were there and tuned in perfectly, although only after a bit of fiddling (had to turn off the antenna power feature for example).

The Freeview HD channels look good, although I think they're better on my Amstrad Sky HD box.

Has this transmitter been on reduced power until recently ? When did the Freeview HD channels come on ?

Can't wait until DSO in NI, hopefully next year.

In what location are you receiving freeview from Cambret Hill?

I'm in the Jordanstown Area TBC, just above the level crossing on the Jordanstown Road and off Mountpleasant Avenue.

Reception was good 2 years ago when this transmitter first switched to digital. From sometime in late 2009 until now, the signal has been somewhat variable and non existant in heavy rain.

Over the last week it seems to have improved for some reason. 100 % on some occasions, even in the bad weather a few days ago.

I'm not sure when the HD multiplex appeared on this transmitter, but they were saying "coming soon" on UK Free's site before Christmas.

I'm wondering if the HD multiplex coming on air has something to do with it ?
