Working Part Time with dole

I have been offered a part time job which I want to take but I'm afraidf how it will affect my dole. The hours are not that regular so I could potentially 20 hours in a week but I could also be working just one shift.

What I want to know is if I only work one shift in a week, say 4 hours, what kind of dole payment will I get for that week? If I don't work any hours in a week will I get a full dole payment?

I'm pretty sure I know the answer ...but moving to State Benefits to be sure you get an up to date version.

Part-time work is calculated by days not hours and based on a 6 day week. You can work up to 3 days or 4 including a Sunday and keep a portion of your payment for that week. For every day you work you lose one sixth of your payment. For example if you work one day and your dole is €188, you should get 188-31.34 = €156.66. Presumably if you only work Sunday, you will get your full payment although I have not encountered this myself.

Even if you only work 4 hours in one day, you will lose the payment for that day. If you don't work any hours, you will get your full payment.

Does the employer have to sign the slip every week before I hand it in?

I was working as a census enumerator recently and didn't need to get anything signed, I just filled in the form and sent it into the SW office.

The deductions above is for Jobseeker's Benefit. If you are on Jobseeker's Allowance it is slightly different in that your means for one day worked is calculated, and these means are deducted for every day you work.
Your employer doesn't stamp it, instead they do random checks with your employer to ensure you are being truthful on the dockets.
