Was using this external HDD (NTSF) for backing up an XP & Vista laptop.

Recently bought a HP desktop with Win 7 Pro 64bit and now can't open the HDD. I can see it but get a H:\ is not accessible no matter which usb port i use.

Plug it back into the XP laptop and there she is.

    Any ideas

    1) Plug in and turn on the external USB hard drive
    2) Click Start button
    3) Right click on Computer
    4) Left click on Properties
    5) Click on Device Manager
    3) Type in "Device Manager" and press Enter
    6) Expand the USB list
    7) Find the device
    8) Right click - Uninstall
    9) Turn off the external USB hard drive
    10) Turn back on the external USB hard drive and let it find and install the driver

    Tried that twice Overheal.
When I turned it back on, it loaded drivers and said device ready but it's still not accessible ?

Turn off the Firewall while your at it. Had a problem with an Internet dongle and Comodo Firewall before. You'd never suspect them.

Don't forget to turn back on.

    Toughie.....throw it out the window?:D

Maybe there's a newer driver for Windows 7 on Samsung site?
Add "Take Ownership" to Context Menu of Files, Folders, and Drives (I'm not actually sure what this does)
Take whatever is on it off with the XP Laptop and then Format it with the Win 7 Desktop and put stuff back on.
