Apps for Both Iphone and Ipad

Hi i was wondering if i buy an app for the iphone will it work for the ipad.For example cinexplayer seems to have 2 different prices for both of them..Does this mean i have to buy both of them.

If you want the ipad version too, then yes.
The ipod version should work on both, just scaled up on ipad and not as good as an ipad specific version.

Not sure what happens the other way round
