Well here i am 5 shaves later with a DE Razor and it gets better with every shave. Razor is Edwin Jagger DE89L and here is my experience to date with blades. Shave cream is TOBS Jermyn, Proraso or Speick. Shave 1 was with a Derby and was a great shave. Shave 2 was with same Derby and burned like hell on my neck as it seems the Derby was tugging a bit. Shave 3 was with a Gilette Yellow and was not too bad but irritated again. Shave 4 i decided to try Astra Super Platinum and guess what it was so good used it again on Shave 5 and think i have found my blade. Its soooo sharp like a feather but a lot more forgiving. I have a pack of Feathers in the cabinet but not feeling brave enough yet to try them out:eek:. What i also like about the Astra is your face feels like you had never passed a blade over it while being baby smooth at the same time. So if in any doubt about ditching those cartridge rubbish blades for some real shaving just do it. Shaving.ie is a fab website.

I'm with you man. Just getting into the double edge lately. Been using a cheapo one from Boots, waiting for a Parker 90R to come in the post. Did you get the 20 blade sample pack off ebay? Cause I bought a sample pack with 5 of each of the exact blades you mentioned. I'm holding out till I get a little more practiced before using the feathers too.

Im just after my third DE shave the first too were with a derby blade, but i found it tugging a little today so swapped to a feather blade, man those feathers are sharp i handled it well but boy you would want to have a steady hand.
Also using prosaro to make up a cream i think thats excellent, no irritation afterwards unlike with the cartridge shavers.
