Do EI use Pier B for it.

Plane will come into B pier and baggage will come out in T2. There's a new walkway from B pier to T2 for this, not 100% certain if the walkway is open actually, but if it's not then they'll be brought over on a bus AFAIK.

One more thing is this walkway different from the one used for T2 to Pier B departing passengers.

Yep. Departing passengers and arriving passengers are kept segregated. Departing passengers going from T2 to Pier B in T1 use the connecting walkway that joins the lower level of the old Pier C at gate C41. They then proceed down the street and left to Pier B.

Arriving passengers at Pier B now use the new VCC(Vertical Circulation Centre iirc) which brings them directly from the Pier B arrival gates to the baggage hall in T2 (via passport control in T2).

Mainly a summer issue with so many flights and so little stand availability, particularly in the mornings with the Transatlantics. The swing doors on Pier E are getting plenty of use as there's so many US flights out in the mornings. This takes away a number of gates for EI ops resulting in many EI flights being sent over to Pier B.

Still the odd 330 on B even with the swing gates in use. Inbound on B seems to happen more at night as E stands are full for morning. The swing gate is a nightmare for those seeking a quiet spot with a powerpoint in the morning!!

This happened to my folks a few weeks back. They flew in after midnight and had to walk between the terminals to get their luggage.

They were furious. My mum cannot walk that far and it was just stupid.

I did guess though that perhaps the gates were full so it had to come into T1.

As stated above and elsewhere before now there are simply not enough stands late at night and first thing in the morning to accomodate the Aer Lingus Dublin based short haul fleet in Terminal 2, nor was there ever planned to be! Some late flights in and early flights out will always use Pier B (gates 301-313).

I would hazard a guess that the walk from gates 301-313 (Pier B) is not that much longer than that from the furthest gate in Terminal 2 to the terminal, if not the same.

It is certainly a shorter walk than that from the furthest gate in pier D (gates 101-121) to the arrivals hall in terminal 1, so I really don't see why people should be "furious"?
