    Hi all,

I've been trying to book a few tickets/register on www.vue.ie for an hour... no joy - just wondering if it's the system I'm on.

    On a G5 powermac 10.5.8
Have tried safari 5, firefox 3.6, camino 2 and tenfourfox browsers... process times out when I submit any booking request / submit details to register on the site.

(all other sites are fine and used to be able to book tickets no problem on their old site)
I tried ringing their 1520 number and get 'call failed', they no want my monies :)

Could be a Java Script error. I've come across this issue many times. Usually after a Safari update or an upgrade of the vendors website. Run software update on your G5 and see if there's a Java update available. (I think there was one released a few weeks ago). If this doesn't solve the issue, then the vendor need to tweak their site. In the meantime if you need to access this in the short term try pulling down an alternative browser from the web. I keep a version of Firefox on my system for times such as this.

    Thanks Machead,
    Have latest system updates installed.
What other browsers would you recommend?

There's lots to choose from nowadays. I don't have any hands on experience with many of them apart from 'Firefox'. It's not as nice to use as Safari, but it's a relatively 'small' program, so it uses very little space for a program that will only be used occasionally. 'Google Chrome' is supposed to be the 'Bees Knees' but it's a much bigger app than Safari, so will use more space. If you were to consider using this regularly (instead of Safari) it's another possible option.

    I didn't actually know that!

I mostly work with PPC Macs. I work with a G5 server and a suite of G4 Power Macs. (Though there's a few Macbooks on order, should be delivered in the next week or so!) At home we have a G4 PowerBook and a G4 Mini.

Looks like they don't want your money after all (Re: original post). I cant think of any other alternatives just now. Might be a problem with their FTP server! Though the phone system being down as well, it's just sods law I guess!

In the Safari preferences panel you'll find "enable Developer Menu" or similar. Once enabled you will see an extra menu called Developer. From this menu select "User Agent" > I.E 8 or one of the versions of Internet Explorer. This usually helps me where some sites insist on being fussy.

Also try resetting Safari, clearing the cache and cookies.

Whoops, it might be too late for this advice now, but after applying 'pub' option, definately DO NOT attempt any IT work. It might seem like a great idea at the time, but you WILL regret it afterwards.
