Hello all, can anybody help?

I think I got a virus and went about restoring the computer... Normally wouldnt be a problem but when i try boot the netbook from an external optical drive using the windows cd it boots for a while and looks like its loading to what would eventually be the windows recovery console....

But then i get an error saying theres an issue with the hard drive and i need to run chkdsk! But how can i get to chkdsk when windows wont load(virus) and i cant get to the recovery console when booting from the windows cd..... Anyone any thoughts?

There should be an option in the recovery console to do this. If not, can you boot your machine in safe mode?
