Comfortable win for us. Shouldve been 5 or 6

Normal when you playing Galway tbh

Made it tough work for ourselves against Waterford tonight, missed some sitters of goals. 1-0 down at half time, Shels come blasting out for the second half and win 2-1 with a cracking winner by Conan Byrne.

Not for us, we also let them back into it far too much, was fairly nervy till we got the peno.

Thought we did okay tbh. Stephen Walsh was fucking immense at left back.

We never looked like scoring though, apart from the cross that nearly went over the line. I'd like to see a replay of it from a good angle, but we never will.

Derry shaded it but the difference was just Mannus mistake (in front of whoever was there from St Johnston ). I thought but we should got something there with the amount of chances we had. Doherty saved at point blank range to deny Twigg a few times and tipped a great free kick on to the bar. Thought we had a call for that goal being over the line too. MON set out his stall to early when I thought we looked best after the goal when we had to attack. Some woeful performances, especially Sullivan and Stevens.

    PRESS RELEASE

    FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION OF IRELAND

    *

    Saturday, July 9, 2011*

Independent Disciplinary Committee reaches finding on Zayed case

    *

The Football Association of Ireland today confirmed that the Independent Disciplinary Committee has reached a finding following its hearing regarding complaints of racist behaviour directed at Eamon Zayed.

    *

Shamrock Rovers are not being sanctioned in respect of the complaint regarding their fans as there was no corroborative evidence in relation to the complaint.

    *

The Independent Committee found that based on the evidence before them, Shamrock Rovers player, Chris Turner should be sanctioned with a three match suspension for offensive behaviour under rule 88.

    *

St Patrick’s Athletic were sanctioned under rule 89 in relation to racist comments made by a small* number of supporters. The club was sanctioned with a €200 fine. The Independent Committee commended the actions of St Patrick’s Athletic management who have dealt with this tiny minority in a very proactive manner.

    *

    ENDS

Our 2 "fans" banned but imo if they pay the fine they should be let back in.

Why? If you're going down that road you may aswell add a special VIP 100 euro package to allow fans racially abuse players. People like that shouldn't be in football grounds or anywhere really.

I know what they said and it was a Derry "fan" who made the allegation.

The fans have coined the racially unoffensive "We`re not racist, Zayeds a ****" chant.

No. Is that all they said? Makes no sense that Pats have been charged with racism and 2 fans banned if thats all they said though.

Hardly a cert at all. I said that from the start. Best squad is not best team. Sligo, then Derry and then youse have strong 11s. Especially Sligo now.

Anyones league yet. MON factor and how quickly teams get knocked out of Europe will be massive.

Powell is a great signing, really happy with that. Boco has also agreed to join for the 3rd time I think it is now!

Great to see my team at the top of the table, even if it's only for less than a day :pac:

Are you forgetting about the number of chances we had too, like the header just over the bar, or the one cleared off the line, or the save from Mannus just after the one that was cleared off the line (I hear the TV missed that)

Derry had a fair few chances too. That's why I thought you shaded it.

Sligos ability to win tough games and Rovers ability to win easy games will be the deciders.

Us and Derry just keeping it interesting imo.

Entertaining game Dundalk very good out wide but brutal at the back. Could have went either way but thought we had the most clear chances.

Good game and the draw probably a fair result with both teams maybe disappointed not to have won it. Pats looked very dangerous from all set pieces including throw ins and there could have easily been more goals in the game. McFaul is a smashing player and was excellent yesterday. He could have done a lot more damage had he not been bypassed for most of the game by his defenders.
Dundalk tried to play some good football at times but found it difficult to break down Pat's excellent defence who's only weak link was Guthrie (who ironically spent the first half of the season in Oriel). We got through twice on goal. Once where Griffin missed a one on one putting it wide and the second he finished coolly after some neat one twos on the right side of midfield between Ward Kearns and Maher.
That was Griffin's 8 goal in his first 10 league starts for the club and he has become the first player since 1981 to score in five consecutive league games for Dundalk (he has scored 6 in 5)

Getting a draw in Richmond would normally be a good result especially travelling with no recognised centre halves but draws are no good for Dundalk at this stage and the chances of European football next season are slowly disappearing in to the distance. :(

Why did dundalk only have 4 players on the bench? Surely they have an A team or is Foster angling for more players?

Seems a bit of a kick in the face to any A team players who are on form even if you dont play them at least put them on the bench.

We have been asking the same question as it doesn't make any sense at all. Fair enough he may not give them a run out but he should get them used to the match day environment. The only thing I can think of it's a financial issue.
