People are probably sick of answering questions like this by now but I'm hoping someone can answer this for me. I bought one of the Finlux SAO634 approved boxes for the tv in one of the bedrooms in the house. I had checked the saorview website beforehand to make sure I was in a good location for it and all was good there. I've set the box up today, put the aerial in and out and connected the scart (non hdmi tv). After doing the first installation it is saying thAt there is no channels found. The chap in the shop said that this box would be ok for my tv so it must be something I am doing myself. Anybody got Ny suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.
    Mark

What analogue TV channels did/do you receive?

    1 or 2 aerials?

Just the one aerial as far as I know.

You probably require 2 aerials, one for the Saorview channels and another for the UK channels.

Hi, I'm new to boards.ie though I've been looking up info on it for quite a while, so forgive me if I'm buttting in in the wrong place - Thanks all!!

Same kind problem markc1184 is having, happened me. I have 3 TV's, only one is not Saor view ready so I got the said box and can get the information i.e. RTE 1 RTE 2 etc up on screen but no picture. The other 2 TV's (their working perfect) are running off the same aerial which is going through an 8 way splitter and some kind of booster/stabiliser (could this be the problem?!).

    Anyone got any pointers please?

    Thanks

How is the analogue reception on the non Saorview TV?

Is the amp/booster before or after the 8 way splitter?

Have you tried the STB on either of the other 2 TVs, to rule out a snag with the STB?

    Thanks The Cush

The analogue reception isn't great, but would be the same for all TV's

The amp/booster is before the splitter

Is the STB the actual Saor view box? if so wouldn't the saor view ready TV use it's own bits to receive digital anyway.

If you only have 3 tvs, use a 4-way splitter; this will have much lower signal losses than the 8-way which splits the signal 8 ways regardless of what is actually connected to it.

The reason I suggest testing the Saorview STB at one of the other TV points is to rule out a problem with the STB.
