Overstaying tourist visa in Ireland

I will be in Ireland on a tourist visa, and am wondering what would happen if I overstayed by a couple of days? What penalties could I be faced with?

How severely is this dealt with? I haven't travelled very much but it seems like anytime I go to the airport to leave Ireland they don't check my passport to see how long I've been in Ireland (and if I've overstayed) - they just seem to check the boarding pass and use the passport for identification purposes only. (Am I wrong about that?)

Don't stay longer than your visa says so. If you do decide to break the law, if caught i hope you get jail ffs.

OP you are right, there is no Garda Immigration passport check when leaving Ireland (they are not Garda Emigration after all :)). Your airline will want to see your passport as proof of ID - but they will not be checking your current visa. And even if they did, they have no power to punish you for overstaying your visa. The only way you could get caught is if you managed to get into a random check somehow. What you are planning to do still is against the law though... if caught, you will be banned from Ireland for some time and likely fined as well.

OP, have a read of the charter. Please don't ask for advice here about breaking the conditions of your visa.
