    Hi
Can anyone help. Please. I am losing my mind.:(:(:(
I have a HP latop, its 6 months old.
Im not that great with computers but I manage.
I have a progam called Windows Media Player,
some-how it has taken over my laptop.
Instead of the Internet/microsoft word/adobe and other icons, they have been replaced with the WMP icon.
Everytime I log into my laptop, the WMP just keeps poppin up on the screen & it wont allow me to do anything else.
I try to close it, minimize it, everything but it persists on taking over the screen every few seconds.
I have uninstalled it, deleted it from my programs, put it in the recycling bin. Cleaned out the cookies & cahce. Nothing. Tens seconds later up it pops again.:mad:
I have tried to call HP, no luck I have tried to call PC world where I bought the laptop, no luck.
It might be a really simple thing but Im tearing my hair out.
I've never even used the programme for anything.
I have another user account on this laptop belonging to my flat mate, its not affected but its not an administrator.
Please anyone out there can you help .....:confused::confused::confused:

It sounds like you have a virus of some sort. Have you tried running a scan?

What anti virus do you have?

    can you do this ?

    Download OTL to your Desktop
    • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
    • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
    • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files here

Weird, install and update Malwarebytes Free and run it with your computer in Safe Mode.

To get into Safe Mode keep pressing F8 (could be F2) when turning your computer on until a list of options appear.

You could try use "System Restore" and put the computer back to a date before the problem started.

If all else fails and you have the re-installation discs back-up what you need and re-install windows.
