I am a corp law and llb student, I was going to sit the fe1 exams this Oct but feel like I have left it too late as all the courses have already started and I'm feeling more than a little overwhelmed!! This may be because I feel like I scrapped through college with minimum results and that was with all the help I recieved through tips etc!!!
Can anyone give me advice on where the best place to do the courses are? Everyone has already told me that griffen college is too impersonal i.e the classes are too big! I will be doing tort, criminal, equity and property as my first 4.
Any advice would be much appreciated!! :)

I'm in the same boat as yourself, just finished an LL.M and still have some dissertation left so doubt I'll do any of the exams in October, I'll probably wait till next March/April.

As far as I know all those courses i.e. Griffith and the Independent Colleges, are brilliant, they are supposed to give you all the past exam papers ans manuals that have lots of stuff pin pointed for the exams. There's threads on here where people go on and sell all the old manuals and exam papers, books etc. A friend of mine is sitting his last FE-1 in October and he is going to give me some of his stuff so I can get an idea about the exams before getting into study.

I know I would not be experienced as I am only going for the FE-1's next Spring but from my reading of the threads and the Syllabus' on the lawsociety website (the amount of topics you have to cover for each subject is unreal) I would advise waiting till Spring as you will give yourself loads more time to study and thus you won't be panicking as much if all that time is used wisely. My friend also said it usually takes people up to 18 months to get the FE-1's especially if their working. I'm not working at the moment but who knows what will happen in a month or two then study time will become less and less with a job.

My advice would be hold off till next Spring, go and do some travelling, or get a job, even if it isn't in a law office. That's my plan anyway, hold off till next Spring and just try get some old manuals and exams papers, along with the relevant texts, pick the 4 subjects I'm going to tackle and then start getting into topics as early as I can. Hopefully finish my dissertation soon so I can start as early as possible.

If anyone with their experiences wants to correct me or counter advise over what I said feel free to do so, all advice and experiences I'm sure would be welcome!

passed the fe-1's a few years ago. If you can get the notes together from past students it's worth doing an legal exam techniques course. They're usually half to one day courses. They helped me with study and exam techniques which college doesn't teach. I think there a few different crowds running them in Dublin

Thank you for your freat advice, have only got the hang of looking back on my past threads now! I have decided to wait until April and am begining to gather together material and will begin soon (or so the plan is!) I think I will go with Griffen college as I like the idea of doing it online and being able to look over past lectures. Ahhh it just seems so overwhelming right now!!
