Watermarking

What would you suggest about watermarking photo's. I had a photo used without my permission this week by a newspaper. I've got it sorted now, although it's still being used on a B&B site again without my permission.

It's an older photo, so it doesn't have a watermark. I've only recently starting putting my name on the bottom of my photo's.

So what's the best way to watermark? Is there a way to watermark old photo's on Flickr, or would I have to take them all down and replace them?

    Thanks in advance.

    What software do you use?

I use Lightroom 3 which has a built in watermark feature. Very simple to use.

There is no way to watermark images already on flickr. You'd have to remove them and upload again.

I only use picasa.....so they only option I can see is my name at the bottom in small letters.

Picture Shark is a handy, free, if basic solution.

Unless you edit them in Picnik to add in a text watermark ... which is painfully time consuming!

Really? I might give that I go. I just want the popular ones to have a watermark.

When saving, be sure to save as a new copy and then mark the origonal as Private. That way you will still have the origonal version saved but only have the watermarked version visible

OK thanks, I'll give that a go.
