Could somebody fill me in on fees for mature students..

Aside from any grants do we have to pay full fees or a lesser rate?

    Cheers.

There are so many variables for fees depending on your circumstances,

    Course of study
whether you have availed of free fee course before
    BTEA or Maintenance Grant application

a bit more information is required to answer your question or go to

    http://www.studentfinance.ie/mp9377/course-fees/index.html

and answer the options and it will bring you through it.

There are two types of fees:
Tuition fees which at the present moment in time are free to all eligible students for their first attempt at 3rd level education. They can range from €1000 to upwards of €15,000 depending on where and what the course is. Generally there are no free fees for a second third level qualification if its at the same or lower level as one you currently hold. If you started a previous qualification and left without qualifying you may be eligible for free fees for another course if there is a five year gap between the two.

Registration fees: These are charges set by the third level sector to nominally cover the costs associated with registering you as a student and administering the provision of your education. At present for all third level bodies this stands at €2,000 and is payable by all students.

You can have this fee covered if you are eligible for a grant from the VEC or Co. Council. Even if you are not eligible for the maintenance portion of the grant you can still have this €2,000 registration fee covered.
