Need to get to Barcelona from Madrid next weekend. Train seems very expensive. Anyone able to tell me the best, relatively cheapest way to get there?

Can you get the web fare on the train, usually about half price .... or indeed the overnight train

Alsa is a nationwide bus company, you should get a single ticket for under €30, although it does take about 8 hours. If you can, buy the premium service ticket as the bus is more comfortable and its only a few euro extra. Here's their website http://www.alsa.es/portal/site/Alsa

The other option is flying, Ryanair and Vueling both operate direct flights, along with other carriers, but these are probably the cheapest.

If you have the time the overnight premium bus service is probably the best option to save money and travel in comfort.

I got a flight for cheaper than a train a few years ago anyway.
