    Hi All,

I am looking a going to see a car being sold by JK Car Sales in Baldoyle,
I want to know if there are any good or bad reviews, I live the other side of dublin and don't want to waste my time if it is not worth it.

    Thanks

It is cheap, but it looks quite tatty. Ring them and go through the service history in detail with them on the phone - you might well find that their idea of FSH is a few services in 05-07 and still on the original cambelt. Extra brownie points if he tries to tell you that it's not due yet by mileage. ;)

citroen picasso diesel would be a better option i think

Thanks Anan1, Think I will give them a call first, any tips on exactly what I should be asking, and obviously what the answers really mean.

    Thanks Fryup,

The car is not for me, it is for the missus, she kinda has her heart set on a Grand Scenic. She had one of the older Scenics before and loved it.
No fans of Citroen here, any way it is way out of our budget.

It's hard to get an idea of condition from trade sellers, as they tend to give the same stock answers regardless of the car. Do ask about the general condition, though, and whether it's been crashed. I'd begin by asking the seller to go through the service history with me, and make a brief note of each service - date, mileage, where performed, and any extra work like cambelts, brakes etc. If that sounds complete, i'd then call the garages who did the work to make sure that what was actually done matches what i've been told, and also what should have been done. Only at that point would I make an appointment to view the car.

    Hi aero
sorry to hear about the audi you were to buy,but I purchased a ford smax
back in may 2011 from this garage and have'nt had a single problem with it
I also done my own veichle check off the english registration and all checked out
okay also know 2 people who bought cars from them and got all their checks
done and no problems,I see from their website all the veichles seem to have high mileage so it seems abit unlikely that they are involved in this sort of thing?
maybe they were done over themselves????????????????

happy hunting for your new car..........irish eyes

I'm with aero on this one. Good to hear others have good experiences with jk but personally, I'd run for the hills.
The fact that dealers tend to do their own background checks would mean whether or not they clocked the A4, they were more than well aware of the clocking as shown in the report on that specific thread!

Eh, the fact that a dealer's stock is predominantly high milers proves nothing.
For example, I may be selling an 08 with 130,000 miles which you would quite rightly consider a high miler. However, I may also have shaved off another 30,000 miles for all you would know, just to take the bad look off the odometer!

Probably best to suggest somebody else doing it rather than yourself....dont you think ;):p

Its always a gamble but just get a trusted mechanic to give it a once over before you commit. It can't hurt to have a second opinion :)

Randy Hickey is not responsible for anything he may or may not say on this site, or any THEORETICAL scenarios he may or may not have outlined in this thread or elsewhere.
Furthermore, this is not a gaurantee!

Its funny how Irisheyes has not logged in since he posted the above comment and before that he had not logged in for months. I find it hard to believe him and I imagine he is probably the dealer or an employee of JK car sales!
