They lost their first game 3-0

    breaking news

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/feedarticle/9758290
ZURICH, July 22 (Reuters) - Swiss club Neuchatel Xamax's turbulent start under new Chechen owner Bulat Chagaev continued on Friday when goalkeeper Rodrigo Galatto was fired after one game and one week at the club.
The club has already fired two coaches, sacked the administrative staff and parted company with all of its sponsors since businessman Chagaev took over in May.

"Rodrigo Galatto is no longer part of the group," team manager Sony Anderson told Le Matin newspaper.
"Against FC Basel on Sunday, (Jean-Francois) Bedenik will be our number one."
Galatto was one of three South Americans who joined the club last week along with Paraguay striker Edgar Benitez and Brazilian forward Carlao.

Possibly unfamiliar with Neuchatel's artificial pitch, he endured a nightmare debut in the Swiss League at the weekend as they lost 3-0 at home to FC Lucerne.

BERNE, July 24 (Reuters) - Neuchatel Xamax fired their entire coaching staff after only two games on Sunday, according to Swiss media reports, as the turmoil since the recent take over by Chechen businessman Bulat Chagaev continued.
Coach Francois Ciccolini, team manager Sonny Anderson and the rest of the staff, appointed in June, were dismissed immediately after a 2-0 loss at champions FC Basel left them pointless and goalless at the bottom of the league after two games.
"They can't ask us to perform magic," Ciccolini told the online edition of 20 Minutes newspaper.
Anderson added: "He (Chagaev) is the chief shareholder, he makes the decisions."
The club could not be reached for comment.
Neuchatel have already fired two coaches, ditched all their sponsors and sacked their administrative staff since Chagaev took control in May, saying he wanted to lead them into the Champions League.
On Friday, they sacked Brazilian goalkeeper Rodrigo Galatto after only one week and one game at the club following his performance in a 3-0 home defeat by FC Lucerne in their opening match of the season.
His replacement Jean-Francois Bedenik had to pick the ball out of the net after just 83 seconds as Benjamin Huggel put the hosts ahead in Sunday's game.
Gilles Binya scored an own goal 10 minutes before halftime as Basel strolled to an easy win.
Neucahtel fired coach Didier Olle-Nicole on May 12, the day the club was sold to Chagaev, and his replacement Bernard Challendes was dismissed three weeks later after the team escaped relegation but lost to Sion in the Swiss Cup final.

Someone thought that as they had been bought by some moneybags the club would be transformed, well its not worked out like that though they have brought in a a couple of decent players on loan but the owners are clearly impatient idiots.

Xamax are on a great run. 6 points of the top if they hold out for win today.13 points out of a possible 15 in last 5 league games :D

Xamax are in to 6/1 to win league..

Are they 6/1 anywhere apart from Betfair? That's a 220% book with no liquidity so the 6/1 is not a real price. 9 points off the lead and 20 goals worse off against the leaders, 33/1 seems like a more realistic price.

When I read this I remembered this thread.
The Swiss Football League (SFL) announced on Wednesday it has revoked the playing licence of beleaguered club Neuchatel Xamax, excluding the side from SFL matches.
The decision by the disciplinary committee is effective immediately, the body said in a statement, though the club has five days to appeal.
The SFL cited Xamax's failure to submit required financial documents which it said meant the club had not met the conditions of the licence.
