Panasonic Plasma Tv - Q&A

    Hi,

    Just got a new Panasonic plasma and i need your assistance...


    1.Found that TV uses Linux as OS,is there a possibility to get access to that configuration and play with ? I ran a full IP ports scan and none are open ! Can be that it needs a special application !?

    2.Panasonic opens TV code developer ,according to this source ! Is that good or bad !? Anyone involved in creating some local apps and not only US ?

    3.The tv is not seeing the channels from UPC wall point,is there a way of getting the basic package received on the TV ? I receive only 3 channels of the original package.

    4.There are few things that i do not like with Tv guide and with PiP feature.Is there a possibilty that sending a suggestion to Panasonic they will take it in consideration ? For example,LiveTV on EPG...i think that should be there as default ,can it be hardware or software reasons that Pana is not enabling it ?

    5.Anyone managed to record on the external USB drive when source selected is HDMI and not TV ?

    6.What are the reasons that some TV sets are coming with 5y warranty and other with only 1 year ? Can be a known but hidden manufacturing bug ?

    Did you buy the TV in Northern Ireland?? If so it will only have a UHF tuner whereas the Irish model would of had a UHF & VHF tuner. That's why you're not getting all the channels, as it doesn't have the VHF tuner.

    You can suggest it alright to their customer care email but I doubt anything would be done.

    It only allows you to record from the built tuners, not external sources as that could to lead to piracy.

    Panasonic do it as an incentive to buy more expensive models, currently only the high up new models (TVs that end with 30 eg G30, GT30, VT30 etc). The TVs are all made the same, you missed out on the 5 year warranty promotion. That doesn't mean that your TV was made any worse than the ones that did come with the 5 year warranty.

    1.I read somewhere that the first 200 hours shall stay in THX mode,then it can be changed to any of the picture settings! Can you confirm ?

    2.Is there are benefits in doing the pro calibration ?

    3.If YES,who can do it and when and how ?

    4.I have a set of old Technics speakers (not emf shielded) beside the plasma TV...does the EMF affects the TV in any way (i know,silly one...).

    5.I have the TV on ups.Is there a recommended way of power-on / power-off cycle,such as...stand-by then power-off OR power-on and then power button then soft power-on !? Is there a waiting time,aka warming-up !??

    6.Has anyone tried the Skype with the Pana webcam here in Ireland ? Is it doing the job,as is a month waiting time for delivery from Pana shop !!?

    7.Is there a practical,time-tested & user confirmed list of "how-to" not to use the Pana plasma TV !??
