Getting in touch with a lost sibling?

I was just wondering if there is any way to locate someone if you know the name of the parent on the birth certificate and the first name of the person in question. I don't want to put an ad in the paper or anything silly like as im well aware of what can happen if things like this are made public.

    So, any ideas?

Why not ask on the Adoption forum? People who post there have lots of leads and links for you to try, as well as some good advice on what to expect when meeting up with long lost relatives.
