I just got a tv. saorview compatible, dvb-t2,dvb-c in a new apartment and what not.
i have an aerial wire into the apartment running outside, but the former owners took the dish with them, so im pretty much wondering what suggestions for a dish you guys would make
    tipperary region.

will i be able to pickup uk channels etc with an 80cm dish? or should i just get a standard 60cm dish.. looking at ebay and the dishes arent too expensive.
just need to know what the easiest setup is at this stage.
    cheers for any advice

for saorview you will need an aerial. check here for which one you need, (depends on your location)

You don't need to buy a Satellite. They cost millions:D:D:D. But you do need a Satellite Dish:). And a 80cm dish will pick all the UK channels and a lot more. If you are into Sport you can pick up a lot of the European channels and the cards for them are discussed in the Footy forums and the Foreign Satellite forum here. Have a look at the Ferguson Ariva thread to get a good feel of whats available for you hard earned cash.

ok cool m8. guess ill check out an 80cm dish so. had looked on ebay and there was a 5 euro diff between the 60 and 80cm. just was wondering the benefit of the extra bit..
also wasnt sure i could pick up the english and other european channels with just the dvb-t tuner.
guess ill find out what i can get soon anyway.

You won't get anything unless you connect the dish to a DVB-S(2) tuner.

DVB-T(2) needs a UHF aerial, DVB-C is cable.

Check out these guys - not affiliated in any way but have used them to buy my aerial, mast etc and found them very good and reasonably priced.

Mods - feel free to remove the link if this is not allowed. :o

im amazed. after reading the saorview leaflet and few other things saying the normal aerial did it i plugged in one of those small ones from the older tv i had which gave a black and white crap quality rte 1 and 2.
into the digital tv and i have 100% quality and 70% signal strenght. inside aerial. one which is just 2 flimsy wires pretty much.
really liking this digital change now :)

might look into getting freeview at some stage, but i got this tv for the dvb-t tuner. so i wouldnt have to buy a saorview box.
am very happy with the results anyway though i would really have loved to get bbc and a few others.
