Listening to this for the first time at the moment..........F*** me,I've missing out!!
Always loved when I heard the Stones on the radio, and bought the soundtrack to Alfie after seeing the film.
Is this the Rolling Stones best 'best of' or are there more out there?

There's another best of album called Jump Back.
You should get Exile on main street and Sticky fingers, 2 great albums with good songs you won't find on greatest hits albums

Not being a Stones "fan" I found this to be all the stones I need ...

40 Licks does represent the first time you'll get the 'greatest hits' from both the pre and post Alan Klein era all remastered in the same box.

It's pretty complete as far as the hits go but does include a few new tracks that are sub par when held alongside the rest of the package.

As posted above Exile is the business and for many the greatest Stones album, Sticky Fingers is classic too as are the rest of the 'golden age' of the Stones - Beggars Banquet through to Goats Head Soup.

Was the 'golden age' their earlier years?

"Sticky Fingers" is my favorite album of theirs, I think Keef had the right mixture of chemicals in his system at that time!

I suppose it's pretty subjective. I reckon the golden age of their popularity to be the early years and the golden age of creativity to be the Beggars Banquet through to Goats Head Soup period.
