I was gonna put this in the Android forum but my question is more about the mac than the phone.

So I was directed to this page to root my X8 on Mac.

All is going well until typing the command into console. How do I type it in?
    I've never used console before.

You mean the Terminal. The Console is where log files are kept. Anyway, you just type it in and hit return. I've no idea what you are trying to do though, so be careful. You can do a lot of damage via the Terminal.

I was thinking that terminal is the mac equivalent of command prompt alright.

I just borrowed my sister's windows and did it that way. Much better explanations for windows than mac.
