Anyone know if Pilsons Autos are still doing the aircon service for €65 (saw it on a thread on another forum). Or if anyone has any recommendations/prices, please let me know.

I have a '04 Honda Accord who's aircon isn't doing the business. Thanks.

Try John Kenealy, he'll come to you, and he's good, and cheapish : http://www.carairconditioning.ie/

The system might have a leak that the air con service (re-gas) might not show up until afterwards. Would be worth having a dye test for a leak beforehand.

I read that Pilsons do a leak test in their service. I'll be ringing them in the morning for a price.

Theres an aircon pipe that used to break on the 04-05 Accords.
Get a leak test before you fork out for a regas because it`ll be needed after you replace the pipe.

I got one of the EZ chill kits from Halfords and it did the trick . Dead easy too.

Admittedly, if there had been a leak it would have been money wasted.

Contacted Pilsons this morning. They are still offering aircon service for €65. Any make/model car I was told. This includes leak check. I'm getting it done today so will report back.

Got the 65 quid aircon service at Pilson - does what it says on the tin. Old gas (and moisture ) sucked out, new gas and dye put in.

Recommended considering the can from halfords is 50quid and is only a top up . The only issue I had , and tbh its a big one, is that they had Jeremy Kyle on the TV in the waiting area - really shoddy

Just back and unfortunately it's bad news.

Turns out there is suffcient pressue in the aircon system. The compressor is tripping out for some reason. Hope to god it doesn't need a new one as they're about a grand

Besides that, I found the folks in Pilsons very friendly and, even though it takes about an hour to service the a/c, they have comfy sofas and tea/coffee on tap.

Can you post a link to their site or where abouts they are located?

I think so!!! I have a decent mechanic I normally use. He's great for sourcing pattern/refurbished parts. Had to replace the steering rack on a Passat about 2 yrs ago. €1200 new from VW. He got one for €300.

Well at least it's not a vital part. The car isn't off the road and with the current summer weather there shouldn't be any urgency regards getting it fixed.
