Just wondering has anyone had things taken from their luggage when travelling from Izmir to Dublin lately ?

Do Turkish Airlines fly to Izmir from Dublin? Flew with Turkish to Istanbul twice in the last five years or so, fine airline, although their check in was a bit of a shambles.

TBH OP things are rarely taken from luggage these days, I've never heard of an incident.

Was on a package holiday so flew with tailwind, to be honest I am not sure if i packed the items or left them in the apartment. I contacted the travel company to check with them if anything was found in the apartment. initially they said there was only the things I left for the cleaners but said they would investigate it further so I am awaiting a reply. I found them very honest in the hotel so if they find nothing the only other answer is they were taken from my luggage between izmir and dublin last sunday morning.

I'm regularly over and back to the States and regularly get stuff missing in my luggage. I'm putting it down to TSA incompetence rather that theft. I had a t-shirt missing last year, a pair of boxershorts another time and recently half a bottle of Polo Sport (which particularly infuriated me seeing that you can't get it anymore). I reckon when they do their random searches they didn't repack the bag properly.

Well unfortunately I have several items missing, all bought new as presents for my friends and family and they were all in the one bag I reckon I spent around 140 euro on them.

If you are traveling in the US be absolutely sure not to leave anything valuable in your checked in luggage. The baggage handlers are poorly paid and theft of items is a regular occurrence. Had a sat-nav go missing at Newark airport last year.

This advice would apply to most airports, play it safe and bring anything valuable with you, especially electronics as they show up on the security scanner.
