    http://www.digitalspy.ie/ustv/news/a328713/rob-lowe-teases-californication-return.html

Rob Lowe has confirmed that he will be appearing in the new season of Californication.
The actor appeared in three episodes of the last season as Eddie Nero, a movie star who had signed up to play Hank (David Duchovny) in a film.
Lowe has now confirmed on his Twitter page that he will be returning to the show.
"Had a blast with my pal David Duchovny on Californication yesterday," he said. "Wait till you see Eddie Nero's new look. Freaky as usual."
Other stars who are expected to appear in the next season of Californication include William & Kate's Camilla Luddington, Justified's Natalie Zea and Meagan Good.
The show's creator Tom Kapinos has previously suggested that the show could end after its fifth season.

    http://www.tvguide.com/News/Californication-Drea-de-Matteo-1035380.aspx

Emmy winner Drea de Matteo (The Sopranos) and Greek's Scott Michael Foster will guest-star on the Showtime comedy's upcoming fifth season, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. De Matteo will appear in one episode as Holly, a foul-mouthed stripper who spends a wild day with Hank (David Duchovny). In Hank's world, wild days never end well.
Meanwhile, Foster will recur throughout the season as Tyler, the new boyfriend of Hank's daughter Becca (Madeleine Martin). As if dating Hank's baby girl isn't bad enough, Tyler's obnoxious, cocky and rich-snob attitude also rubs Hank the wrong way.
De Matteo and Foster join the previously announced guest cast that includes rapper-actor RZA and Stomp the Yard's Meagan Good as a hip-hop mogul and his protégé, respectively. Justified's Natalie Zea will also recur as a love interest for Hank.

The first season of Californication was excellent. Unfortunately it's gone rapidly downhill since then.

    Californication – SEASON 5

Premiere: Sunday, January 8th at 10:30 PM ET/PT

Californication stars David Duchovny in his Golden Globe®-winning role as hedonistic novelist Hank Moody who struggles to raise his teenage daughter Becca (Madeleine Martin), while still carrying a torch for his ex-girlfriend Karen (Natascha McElhone). The new season will answer questions from last season’s cliff-hanging season finale, including whether Hank, Karen and Becca will finally be able to live together as a family, if Charlie (Evan Handler) and Marcy’s (Pamela Adlon) new baby will help reunite the now-divorced couple and, especially, to where, exactly, Hank was driving off into the sunset. Music icon, producer, actor and director RZA (American Gangster, Derailed) will guest star in multiple episodes as Samurai Apocalypse, an extreme-living, mega-rich hip-hop mogul who hires Hank to write a screenplay for his hot new film property. Sultry film and television siren Meagan Good (“The Game,” Jumping the Broom) guest stars as Kali, a smoking hot singer who is Samurai Apocalypse’s protégé, but who also sparks a flame in Hank. Californication is created by Tom Kapinos with Kapinos and Duchovny serving as executive producers.

ah last season was worth the slog for that dinner scene in the last episode

    :D:D

TBF it did start out great, kinda hard to keep it at that level but i think theyve done a fairly good job of it, im still enjoying it,

Oh I can't wait for this, Rob Lowe being involved makes me excited, his character is one of the best I've seen in a TV show.

I do remember rumours hearing this would be the final season.. but can't find links to back it up.

Here's hoping it's better than last season anyways - which was.. dull.. at best!

Since the first episode seems to have leaked, I've updated the thread title.

And when does Kapinos, who says he ends every season as if it could be the last, think the show will actually say goodbye? "I really feel like it's either going to be Season 5 or the end of season 6," he says. "That feels like the right amount of time for this premise. I feel like we've gotten a great run out of it. That said, if people still want to see the show, and if the network still wants to do the show, I'll figure out a way to do it."

Ahhh totally disagree. Season 2& 3 were excellent IMO. Season 4 (on episode 9 at the moment) is not as strong but it;s still better than most of the other TV out there.

I'm loving Charlie more and more in this show.

From making out to finger b*nging in seconds.

"I've been watching too much porn!"

It seems quite disappointing so far, I've watched the first four episodes.

I think in many ways it has become too serious, Hank is actually maturing.

There aren't that many good scenes between Charlie and Hank which were always good. And I'm getting a bit tired of the whole Hank, Karen relationship.

Hopefully it might pick up a bit.

Would have to agree on the Hank / Karen thing, move on already!! Having said that this season has produced a few classic moments - the dinner party sex discussion, Runkle de-flowering the 35 year old virgin - classic.

yeah the season seems to be tiping away with no end game really noticable, is he heading back to NY or is he still working with samurai, i think that conversation with karen should hopefully spark something in hank, hopefully something bad ;)

its funny how karen actually talks and sounds so like becca when shes embarrassed:D

runkle taking yerones virginity seemed a bit much, except the shame boner of course:D:D

Anyone know what shows are replacing Californication and House of Lies in the schedules? I guess Nurse Jackie is one

I wasn't sure where this season was going but it redeemed itself with the last episode. Surprised this made 5 seasons let alone approved for 6th.
