You could do it using CFDs on cmcmarkets and set the leverage to 0%.

    I'm not kidding.

Just remember to set leverage to 0% and to treat it as a stock account and not a trading one!

I use these guys, no complaints so far

    http://www.deltastock.com/

Igmarkets are also are also great but find the service a bit slack, probably because its such a big company. lots of instruments though.

Do not use an irish broker, you will get robbed on spreads and comms

    I use http://www.tdwaterhouse.ie/
    €15 per buy/sell
It's a division of TD ameritrade which is one of the largest USA online traders.

If you're looking forward buying US stocks Zecco Trade will do that for $4,95 per transaction with no extra fees. No cheaper company serving Irish that I know about.

Thanks all so what do I generally require to trade on-line? just on-line banking capacity or is there more?. I fancy Tesco in particular.

If you trade with US based company you need to sign an agreement, send them copy of your ID and fill a form for IRS if you want to be tax free in the US.

Then wait for activation and transfer your funds.

https://www.schwab.com/ and http://www.scottrade.com/ are quite known.

A friend of mine is using http://www.amtd.com/ but he has quite a large sums of money invested. He says they have the best research tools on the market.

http://www.tradeking.com/ I'd also check those guys. Their pricing looks really good. I remember I called them few weeks ago and they've been very friendly.

There is a €15 charge per quarter on non active accounts, so not essentially the cheapest. I am looking to buy shares but dont want to have to pay any mgmt fees etc, does any know of a broker that does this ..its for a one off trade only
