I have a laptop and would like to basically wipe it and have it like new.

It's a Toshiba sattilte . Now I'm not too techie ! It does have a recovery partition so I can make recovery discs . But not sure if it will just fix a system crash or will give a fresh install .

Any advice would be great .

It's running Vista. And the product code is o. The back of the laptop .

    Thanks.
    Bandit

Recovery disks usually set it back to the day you got it. So you'll have a clean install of windows plus all the usual software they install.

You'll lose anything on the laptop so you have to backup first

    1. Copy all your files and documents to an external storage device.
    2. Shut down the computer.
    3. Turn the PC back on and hit the F8 key repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Option Screen appears.
    4. Click "Repair Your Computer" if you are not already on it and then press ENTER
    5. choose your country and click OK
    6. On the "System Recovery Options Screen" click "Restore Application" which is the last option.
    7. Follow the on-screen instructions
    8. When prompted, click on "Full Factory Recovery"
    9. "Next"
    10. Click "Yes"
    11. you will notice for a while it seems like nothing is happening, give it some time.
    12. After some minutes, recovery will complete and you click "Finish"

I wouldn't delete the recovery partition. Never know when the recovery discs will get damaged.

You'll be able to make more recovery discs once you restore the laptop.

I am not sure if the recovery partition can be deleted?

I've deleted mine before but I install from a clean windows disc and do the drivers myself.

Why would you delete the recovery partition? The size is generally negligible so you would gain little from it and potentially lose a lot.
