since the new upc update the 'guide' button doesnt work

    ever since i updated the upc box whenever i press the guide button the screen goes blank and doesnt do anything,why's this???

    Had something similar happen mine. Eventually did a factory reset through the settings and that sorted it. Make sure you have the code for your area to enter though. Think you can find it on the website or just give them a ring. Hope this helps.

    No actually, all my recorded programmes were still there.

    Yeah all my programs were still there, but noticed a few of them didnt record even though they were listed to record,
    The update is for "future" features that will be available soon.
    you will not see any visual change at all but you will when you the new features arrive.
    The update was only to get the box ready for the new features.

    I've had similar problems with my UPC box. It wouldn't record programmes for me and UPC sent out a technician after several attempts to fix the problem over the phone. My wife had to take a day off work, they gave us a four hour window in which they said the technician would arrive, arrived 30-60 mins after the 4 hour window. Fixed the problem and we departed next day on our holidays, returned at the end of last week, programmes recorded grand and all seemed right in the world. Sunday evening it acted up again except it was worse, my screen freezes, so no TV, rang again and did the factory settings thing, it seemed to work again but again last night we had more problems, currently I can't record and the screen freezes every so often meaning I have to plug it out and try again, rang UPC for the umpteenth time, technician due to come out again this Saturday as neither myself or my wife can afford to take time off work when all you get is a four window for the technician that can be meaningless. Means that I'm not sure what kind of service I'll get from UPC for the rest of the week.

    We've already missed programmes due the failure to record. At this point I'm unbelieavably frustrated with UPC, we're paying enough to them for our TV service but why everytime I ring do they try and sell me broadband, do they not realise that when a person who rings due to trouble with one service that it is not the ideal time to try and sell them another service.

    If the problem is not solved once and for all this Saturday then I'll take my business to Sky. My UPC box worked fine until this update thing to improve the service, ''improve'' is not a word I'd use to describe what has resulted in the meantime.

    If anyone has had similar problems and solved it then I'd appreciate you posting how you solved it.

    I came back to Dublin following a 2 week staycation.

    I restarted my UPC digital box etc as I had everything plugged out while away.
    I was presented with a loss of signal message telling me to check cables etc.
    Nothing wrong with the cables before I left!
    Anyway, rang UPC and they talked me thru the usual steps to no avail. (ie see if you can retune). So now they are sending a technician this Friday. 6 days later!

    Whatever "improvements" were made they seem to have weakened the signal strength and quality. I cant even do a factory reset now because when I put in my activation code the following screen cannot get a stable signal. So my digital box is basically "bricked" until technician can "fix" the issue.

    Dude on the phone said this kicked off about a week ago in the Dublin area. Seems the local channels are more problematic (early channels 101,2,3,4, etc).
    Apparently happening in numerous set box models and numerous parts of Dublin. However I am not convinced as I would have thought to have seen more irate customers out there if this was a mass issue.
    He also seemed to indicate that they had no idea what caused it, but from my perspective they have definitely screwed with the signal strength and quality somewhere and are now just fixing it in a piecemeal fashion.
    Sh!t customer service and to top it all off I got a letter saying they are increasing my broadband cost again. :mad:
