I must be going blind while getting older. Poured them into a bowl for my kids this morning and I'd swear that when I was a kid/teen, they were actually larger in size!

Am I going daft? (The wife would say "more daft!") ...or are Krispies too being shrunk in size along with our chocolate bars, biscuits and other stuff we once took for granted?

Arms length - and the "Snap, crackle and pop" was no longer the sound I used to remember as a kid!

    ...Maybe I'm losing it! :pac:

It's a sign of getting older when the "Snap,Crackle and Pop" has nothing to do with Rice Krispies anymore :(
    I feel your pain :)

I don't think the reason you need glasses has anything to do with your choice of breakfast cereal.

Yes because a 2KG box of small Forsties/Rice Crispies is a much bigger rip off then a 2KG box of big Forsties/Rice Crispies.

Mars baas used to be much bigger and cheaper about 10 years ago .Now manufacturers squeeze 10 smaller ones into a 'extra- value - pack' and charge you more for it .

Ten years ago, I was convinced that all chocolate bars had significantly shrunk in the previous ten years.
But I don't think they've changed in the last ten years.

So I'm fairly certain it's because you're getting bigger, not because mars bars are getting appreciably smaller.

Maybe because they are smaller or from another source (and thus smaller), they are cheaper to buy in such large bulk quanties than previous original sources?

There used to be a large size Mars bar in the confectionary shops in uk but it's being downsized to a smaller version ( not to be confused with the mini size ones sold in packs ,in supermarkets )

Definitely they have toned town the octane-rating of Sherbet Fountains.

I tried one recently for old times sake, and the taste was bland and disappointing, unlike the party-in-your-mouth fizz explosion of yesteryear.

Then I tried sniffing it and that just led to a whole lot of confusion.

    I think it's a perception thing.

When I was a kid, my grandfather had 5 acres of land at the back of his house. I thought it was a massive area, but going back years later and looking at it with adult eyes, it didn't look like the vast space I imagined - and I could walk around it in a fraction of the time as well.

Higher sugar content, higher amount of E additives and/or other substitute crap?
...That and kids might not be as active - instead sitting at home more, stuck to a screen playing their playstations, etc?

They now get less exercise lifting the lighter chocolate bars and cereals to their fat faces. Was a day when eating a Big Time bar was a savage workout, all the exercise you'd need, your jaw would be sore for days and you'd need a little sleep after a full one.

Personally I'd rather the price went up. At least that's honest. You kow what you're getting. Reducing the size is just sneaky.

Completely, 100% agree. I don't know if it is intended or not but the "downsizing" also has the side effect of tricking you into eating more than you would have if they were bigger - which means on average you also spend more than you would have if they were bigger.

    What a crock.

Does it matter if the size of indivual cereal pieces decreases since the amount you get is based on weight?
